How to get up early.

(This is from my Hubpages article by the same name)

I have never considered myself an early riser. I was more of a person to stay in late- later then was necessary. The idea that you get up before the crack of dawn never appealed to me, I also never thought I would be able to…

I mean, why? Well because of the enormous mental energy boost for one, and simple math.If you would normally get up at 7 or 8 for 7 day’s a week and now you would get up at 5, you win 2-3 hours every day. Now that doesn’t seem like much, but it adds up.

  • 3 hours * 7 days = 21 hours…
  • 21 hours * 4 = 84 hours
  • 84 * 12 = 1008 hours a year

Realise that 1008 hours a year is more then 40 full days that you are sleeping away.

The other reason and maybe not as boring as the math reason is that early morning (real early) is a magical time, before most people are up- the air is fresh, the day has not started yet the world outside your window (if your not living in a busy city that is) laid dorment for the night. Birds are singing their first songs and you are probably at your most creative. It’s also perfect to get rid of distractions. No one is their right minds will get up that early to bother you right?

But how to do it? Just do it. It is as simple as that, there is no rocketscience into getting up early- as long as you get out of bed right away, right after that 5 o’ clock buzz…get up..stretch and walk away…do not ever let yourself get into a discussion with the inner you that wants to lay down. Don’t think of reasons to add just another 5 minutes…because the other self will win then. Just wake up- and get up…

Also make sure you have something to wake up to- motivate yourself the day before to get up early. Write down things you want to do and get to them. You will probably find out you will have done all of your work, before breakfast.

Also exercise this early is fantastic for your heart and matabolism if you want to lose weight. You will be energized all day. Don’t drink too much coffee early on…Cuz you’ll crash harder. Drink smaller cups during the whole day…not big shots every now and then. You will probably find out that your body needs to adjust to the weird new schedule…I mean, when it’s 8- your body will think it’s lunchtime…Don’t skip breakfast though..you will need it…Eat smaller bites during the whole day- like coffee…and enjoy that extra month a year.
